Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
What happened to Coup the Game?
That was a working title used for the prototypes and the first round of production units. Now that we've brought the product to market, the game is called Assassin Death Match.
Game Play
What size is the play surface?
The play surface is eleven squares on each side. It has a symmetrical checkerboard pattern that has Portals and Cornering Squares superimposed on the checkerboard.
How can I play a four player game?
The game comes with two sets of pieces, which are enough for a two player game. To play a game with more players than that, you will have to purchase additional sets of game pieces in different colors so that the additional players pieces can be distinguished from each other. There are at least five different colors available. Additional sets of different colored game pieces can be purchased from this web site.
Is Assassin Death Match a chess variant?
No. Assassin Death Match is not a chess variant, since it is completely different in so many ways, particularly in the board layout, pieces, moves and the method of play. Assassin Death Match has its own rules that are completely different from chess and all other strategy games. (see the Official Rules)
Purchasing & Orders
Where can I purchase Assassin Death Match?
You can purchase it online via this web site, or from one of our authorized representatives in person. We don't have distribution set up yet, but we are working on having the game available in some large toy stores in time for the holiday season. Check back here for updated information in the future.
What is your return policy?
If you purchase Assassin Death Match from this web site and you change your mind before opening and playing the game, within three calendar months of the purchase date, we'll gladly take it back from you and refund the purchase price, including taxes, less the original shipping and handling fee. Additionally, if you open the game and do not separate the overlay from the card backing, and then decide that you don't like it within two weeks of the purchase date, we will be happy to take it back from you and refund the purchase price, including taxes you paid, less the original shipping and handling fee.
To take advantage of this offer, the game must be fully complete with all parts intact (the board overlay must not have been separated from the card backing) and in perfect condition when we receive it, and you must contact us before returning the item to obtain an RMA number and detailed return instructions. You will be responsible for the shipping and handling costs of returning the product.
If you purchase Assassin Death Match and you open it and decide you don't like it later than two weeks after the purchase date, we sympathize with you, but we can't accept it back. In that case, we recommend giving it to a family member or a friend who does or would like it.
What about manufacturing defects?
If you purchase Assassin Death Match and the board or overlay has a manufacturing defect, or there are missing or incorrect game pieces, you must contact us within seven days of receipt and we will gladly ship the replacements to you free of charge. We may require the return of any damaged boards or overlays for inspection before we ship replacements. If any parts of the game have been damaged by mishandling on your part, we will not provide a free replacement.
What about damaged pieces?
Our game pieces are almost indestructible in normal use. However, if one of the pieces is damaged or falls apart no matter what the cause, just complete two envelopes - one with your name and address on it and the other with the return address below and place a regular first class postage stamp on each envelope.
Put the damaged game piece into the envelope with your name and address on it and DON'T SEAL that envelope. Fold that envelope and place it inside the other envelope that is addressed to us and mail it.
When we get the game piece from you, we'll drop a free replacement into the envelope that is addressed to you as a replacement for the damaged game piece and mail it back to you using your envelope and postage.
This offer is contingent on your having an address inside the United States and our having game pieces of the same design and materials as the one you send us. You must contact us before returning the item, to be sure we can provide an identical replacement or to agree on an alternative replacement. We cannot guarantee a perfect color match due to manufacturing variances in the raw materials.
Owners who reside in any other country do not need to send us the damaged game piece, and must contact us to obtain a free game piece and pay the actual postage cost to ship it to them.
This offer is limited to six replacement pieces per household per year, and we reserve the right to withdraw the offer at any time. If we choose to withdraw the offer, we will indicate that by placing a notice here.
What about damaged game boards and/or overlays?
Game boards and/or overlays are not indestructible but should last a lifetime with normal use and we do not offer free replacements for them unless they are found to have a manufacturing defect within seven days of receipt. You can, however, purchase replacements from this web site at any time.
What if I lose pieces or the game board overlay?
You can purchase replacements from this web site at any time.
